10. In the Rain
Summary: Usually seeing someone in such a state of fear would excite or disgust Chaor. But seeing Kaz like that....

Chaor jumped over a fallen tree, rain drops continued to fall. He was traveling through the forest of storms, on his way to visit the care taker of the land with Kaz. Remembering the chaotic player that followed, Chaor stopped and looked behind him, watching as the boy tried to pull himself over the fallen tree.

Chaor wrapped his tail around Kaz's waist and lifted him over the log, gentle returning him to the ground before he continued to walk.

Kaz blushed when Chaor stopped to help, but before he could thank him Chaor was already walking off again. Kaz sighed and rubbed his arms to warm them up some. His clothes were soaked from continuous drops of rain and it was making him cold. The weather didn't seem to be getting any better, but Kaz dealt with it and continued to follow the Underworld leader without complant.

The rain poured down harder, and Chaor had to resist the urge to walk faster; he might have lost Kaz if he did that. The underworld leader stopped hearing a rumble in the sky, and growled knowing that with thunder; lightning was soon to follow.

He turned to his left towards a mountain side knowing there must be some caves to take shelter, until the worst past. Chaor quickly glance back at Kaz every so often to make sure he was still behind him. He never allowed his eyes to lay on the chaotic player for too long as the boy's clothes were clinging to Kaz, all too well in Chaor's mind

Kaz jumped and squeaked when he heard a rumble from the sky. He looked up and saw angry back storm clouds over head. He shivered realizing what was going to come from those clouds. Kaz looked at Chaor and saw he was leaving him behind, heading towards a mountain. Kaz gave chase and nearly cried out when they suddenly started to get pelted by heavy rail.

Chaor heard Kaz squeak, he looked over his shoulder to see the boy covering his head with his arms. Sometime Chaor forgot humans didn't have as thick of skin, though at times he forgot Kaz was human. Chaor stopped and lifted an arm over Kaz's head shielding the boy from the rain and using his tail to push Kaz forward as he continued to walk, seeing a cave not too far away that would shield them from the downfall.

Once they reached a cave, Kaz walked over to a dark corner to dry off. He watched as Chaor got down on all fours and shook himself like a dog and then flicked his tail to get all the water off. Youth chuckling at Chaor's drying method and turned back to his very wet clothes starting to try and ring his shirt out, forcing the rain water out of his clothing.

Suddently a bright flash of light and a loud crash of thunder shook the forest, making Kaz jump and scream. Kaz covered his ears and closed his eyes. He hated this kind of weather. Slowly Kaz removed his hands form his ears and opened his eyes, shakily looked at the cave entrance. He trembled, then another flash of lightning streaked across the sky.

Kaz yelped again and ended up falling on his butt.

Chaor chuckled watching Kaz reaction to the weather, it seem so childish to him. "Not use to this weather, Kazzy?" he said, between his light laughter. Leaning his back against the wall.

Kaz didn't say anything to Chaor, just glared at him and then went back to trying to ring out the water from his clothes. But another flash and another rumble sent Kaz running to hide behind a large bolder.

Chaor was a little taken back with Kaz glaring at him, and was about to give the human a warning growl, but the weather beat him to it. He watched Kaz run and hide, that's when the realization hit Chaor hard. "You're really are scared" Chaor said to Kaz, more as a statement then a question.

Kaz didn't say anything because the thunder beat him to it and made him cringe away from the noise. Kaz sat back against the bolder, pulling his knees up to his chest and hugged them. He whimpered as another more bright flash of lightning filled the dark cave.

Chaor approached Kaz, usually seeing someone in such a state of fear would excite or disgust him. But seeing Kaz like this, trembling and whimpering, caused his chest to tighten in a way it never had before. Chaor bent down and flinched, as the boy jumped and whimpered again, with another roll of thunder.

Chaor had never felt so lost, with what to do as he had this moment. He wanted to hold Kaz, but hesitated unsure of how he would take it.

Chaor's uncertainly was thrown aside as he watches Kaz cringe in fear with another flash of light. He tucked his hand behind the boy's back, and his other beneath his legs. He pulled Kaz onto his lap as he sat down, where the chaotic player just was. Chaor held Kaz against his chest, gently rubbing his back and stroking his hair.

Kaz didn't notice being picked up and moved but he did notice the sudden change in temperature. Kaz gasped and opened his eyes seeing red. He looked up and saw Chaor was holding him and...comforting him.

"Ch...Chaor?"

Chaor didn't say anything but Kaz could feel he was doing something. He felt his gentle smooth strokes go from his hair to his back. It relaxed him and Kaz snuggled up closer to Chaor. But mother nature once again showed her rage and sent another angry lightning bolt to the ground and made the surrounding area tremble from the loud thunder.

Kaz couldn't help but scream and bury his face into Chaor, trying to hide from all the noise.

Chaor's breath hitched in his throat as Kaz snuggled closer to him. He hadn't expect the human to do that, the underworld leader half expected the boy to only tolerate his touch or pull away from it, not like it. Just as Chaor relaxed himself, another roar from the clouds caused Kaz to shriek and bury his face into the leader's chest.

Chaor could feel Kaz tremble in fear, and held the boy closer. Nuzzling his red hair and purring to try and comfort Kaz; hopefully drown out some of the loud thunder.

Kaz sniffled and looked up at Chaor, puzzled at his actions' toward him, but before he could say anything he got scared again by another flash.

Kaz ducked down again and whimpered.

"I'm s...sorry Ch...Chaor."

Chaor stopped purring and looked down at Kaz oddly.

"What are you apologizing for?" he asked as he kept sliding his hand up and down the boy's spine.

"For...for being such a cowered." Kaz whimpered.

He jumped as another rumble of thunder crashed.

"I'm terrified of this stuff.....this weather. I hate it!"

Choar sighed gently, if it was any other creature in Perim he would of scolded them for showing such weakness but somehow since it was Kaz, he couldn't bring himself to do such a thing. Not as he watch him and felt him shake in fear at every flash or roar from the storm.

If Chaor truly wanted Kaz to calm down, he needed to redirect Kaz's forces away from the storm. The leader rubbed the boys back as he curled the boy closer to him.

"Ignore the storm… focus on me." Chaor said, before he nuzzled Kaz head purring a little louder than before, to sooth the chaotic player and help drown out the roars of thunder.

Kaz does what Chaor says and focuses on Chaor. He listen to the deep rumbling in the leader's strong warm chest and tucks his head up under Chaor's chin for more comfort and security. He would still flinch or twitch when there was a flash of lightning but he didn't react to the thunder because Chaor's purring was drowning it away.

Chaor smiled having Kaz clam down, though he noticed a small reaction to every other flash. But it seemed so minor compared to before, and Chaor was grateful for it.

Some small gust blew into the cave causing the temperature to drop. The underworld leader felt Kaz shiver a little, and wrapped his tail around the chaotic players waist acting like an odd blanket.

Kaz looked down at his waist and saw Chaor had wrapped his tail around him; giving him extra warmth. Kaz smiled and looks up at Chaor.

"Thanks." Kaz whispered and then snuggled closer to the leader.

Chaor paused all actions and looked down at Kaz blankly, he then regained his composure and huffed before returning to nuzzle Kaz's head, and rubbing his back.

There was a long paused, before Chaor spoke calmly; "Your welcome" and continued to purr. He didn't want Kaz to become frighten again.

Kaz felt Chaor coil his tail more around him until it was wrapped around him twice. Kaz felt more comfortable now and nuzzled Chaor's chest and curled up closer to his favourite creature. Kaz then let out a small yawn and started to slowly drift off.

The underworld leader noticed Kaz had stop flinching all together. He pulled his head back to checked on the boy and make sure he was ok.

Chaor couldn't help but smile seeing Kaz sleep peacefully against him.

He lightly brushed his fingers through red hair, memorizing how soft it felt. Chaor leaned down, taking a deep breath of Kaz's sent exhaling slowly with a purr. Chaor felt the boy's calm and rhythmic breathing, watching as Kaz's body rise and fell against his chest.

"Sweet dreams, Kaz" Chaor quietly purred, looking down at Kaz and rubbing his back. The Underworld leader didn't pry his eyes away from Kaz for even a moment, unsure of the next time he would have the privilege to see such a thing.

Carefully leaning down, Chaor placed a light kiss on Kaz's lips as the boy slept peacefully in his arms.
